40 Days!

40 days is a long time.

40 days is also significant.

During the Flood, rain fell for 40 days and nights.

Moses was on Mount Sinai with God for 40 days.

The spies searched Canaan for 40 days.

Goliath taunted Israel for 40 days before David killed him.

Elijah traveled 40 days and nights to Mount Horeb.

Nineveh was given 40 days to repent.

Jesus was tempted for 40 days in the wilderness.

Jesus appeared to His Disciples for over 40 days after His resurrection and before He ascended into heaven.

40 days of testing, preparation, judgment, and transition to something new.

I want to experience this Lenten season. So, I need to give up something that I will feel the loss of. But 40 days is a long time.
