These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

I’ve been trying to write a post for you all, dear readers, all week. My goal was to get a post written on Monday. Today is Thursday.

I have 2 posts sitting in my drafts folder that I wrote this week and they both were darker than I wanted to be. I wanted to be upbeat and entertaining. But this week has been a year. It has me thinking about the past and how history often repeats itself and it’s got me kind of bummed.

So, my dark drafts will remain in the folder and I will now take Fraulein Maria’s advice and

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad

Some of my favorite things:

A crispy chocolate chip cookie

A jar of ranunculus sitting on my friend’s kitchen table

Image from Firefly Farm.

Having all my kids and grandkids together in one place

A good bass line in a song

Laughing so hard my side hurts

Office supplies

Buying supplies for a new craft project (not necessarily doing said project)

Saddle tan leather for a purse or shoes

Comfortable shoes that look cool

A thunderstorm rolling in

Image by Jill, Eagle Mountain Park, Texas

A chorus of frogs

A movie where I can’t guess the ending

Happy dogs and cats who hate everyone

My grandkids playing without a care in the world

Spring when the daffodils and azalea are in bloom

The Zoo, any zoo and taking photos at the zoo

North Carolina and Georgia coasts especially Tybee Island and The Outer Banks

Image by Jill. Outer Banks, NC. Blackbeard’s ship is down there somewhere.

Genealogy and History

Blues, the color

Sea creatures

I love Katherine Quinn’s illustrations of sea creatures!

Children’s picture books

I could go on but I feel better now.

What are some of your favorite things?
