I accomplished two things with this post. One, I needed to preach to myself and two, I needed to share a sample of my writing. I hope a third thing happens: I hope you are blessed.
Peace, my friends.
Three Devotionals on Trusting God
1.
Trust God and Not Your Own Understanding
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight.” – Proverbs 3:5
The challenge of trusting God is that we must work hard to let go of our need to control every detail of life. It requires faith, especially when circumstances feel uncertain or overwhelming. Our understanding is limited, but God’s wisdom is infinite. When we trust Him completely, we step into a place of peace, knowing He sees the full picture.
Think about a child holding a parent’s hand while crossing a busy street. The child doesn’t know all the dangers around them, but they trust the parent to guide them safely. In the same way, God is always with us, leading us through life’s uncertainties. Trusting God doesn’t mean we will always understand what the plan is, but it does mean we believe God is good and faithful.
When doubts arise, remember that God’s promises never fail. We may not have all the answers, but we have a God who loves us deeply. Surrender your worries, lean on God’s wisdom, and walk forward in faith.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your endless love and faithfulness. Help me to trust You with all my heart, even when I don’t understand what’s happening around me. Remind me that Your plans are always good. I surrender my fears and choose to lean on You. Amen.
2.
Trust God and Delight in The Lord
“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will act.” Psalm 37:3-4
Trusting God begins with delighting in God—not fretting or fussing, but finding our joy, peace, and purpose in The Presence of God. When we prioritize our relationship with God while we are waiting and trusting, our hearts become aligned with His will. The desires we hold close are then shaped by God’s perfect plan, not our fleeting and fearful wants.
Trusting God means committing every aspect of our lives into the Lord’s capable hands. It requires faith when the path ahead is uncertain or when we don’t see immediate results. God promises that as we trust, The Lord will act. His goodness will be evident in our lives, just as the sun rises each morning. Divine timing is always perfect, even when it feels delayed.
Let go of the need to control every outcome. Find joy in God’s presence, trust His plan, and rest in His faithfulness.
Prayer:
Father, help me find true delight in You. I commit my plans to You and trust in Your perfect timing. Amen.
3.
Trusting His Heart When We Don’t Understand His Ways
“We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
Trusting God means believing that the Lord is working behind the scenes, even when life feels uncertain or painful. This verse doesn’t promise that everything we experience will feel good, but it assures us that God will use every situation for our ultimate good and His glory. His plans are always purposeful, even when we don’t understand them.
There are times when we face trials that leave us questioning why. In those moments, we can remember that God sees the full picture while we see only a part. He uses both the joyful and the difficult seasons to shape our character, deepen our faith, and draw us closer.
When we love God and walk according to God’s purpose, we can find peace, knowing that every detail of our lives is being woven into a beautiful story of redemption. Trust isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about knowing the heart of the One who does.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your promise to work all things for my good. Help me trust Your plan, even when I don’t understand. Amen.
